Neutral lipsticks aren't exactly the most exciting beauty products to launch, but slap both Kylie Jenner's and Kim Kardashian's name on it, and you've got yourself a sold-out collection.
Fans of Kim Kardashian's more subdued beauty look of late pounced at the opportunity to buy and try KKW x Kylie, a collection of four shades chosen by Keeks herself.
The glossy, soft pink hues look great on Kim, but what did these four real girls think about Kylie's newest crème formula and Kim's chosen colors? Read on to find out.
Tester #1: Heeseung
'I don't normally wear nude lip shades because I've never found a good one for me that doesn't make me look washed out or like I'm trying to do frosted lips. I always resort back to red because it's easier and I know it looks good.'
1. Kimberly:
'This one is very close to my skin color, so it looks weird.'
2. Kim:
'The coverage on this one is a little uneven — plus, it's a bit too pink to be considered 'nude,' I think.'
3. Kiki:
'This shade looks almost neon against my skin and makes my complexion look tan in comparison. It definitely feels more opaque than the others and kind of makes my lips look frosted.'
4. Kimmie:
'Of the four shades, this one is the best on me. It didn't really look like a neutral shade, but more like a rosy-pink. All of the shades made my lips look plump though, which was the one good thing about them.'
Tester #2: Rij
'I always mix neutral lip colors with a little pink. I've never worn just nude because lighter shades look completely off on me, and I'm too afraid to wear darker shades. So, I gravitate toward medium neutrals, because I can mix them with a little color to look nude-ish without being totally neutral.'
1. Kimberly:
'This shade was lighter than I would normally wear, but I like it.'
2. Kim:
'It's very close to my actual lip color. It's a '90s glossy kind of thing. The formula is very creamy though, so I feel like it would come off easily.'
3. Kiki:
'This is a very everyday color for me. I actually like it.'
4. Kimmie:
'This one and the first lipstick shade are my favorites. This one is more saturated, which makes me like it. It has an orangey-salmon kind of coloring to it that suits me.'
Tester #3: Carly
'I love nude lip shades TBH, but I typically go for ones with a soft pink undertone because I hate when I see neutral lips that look chalky. So going for a subtle pinky-nude helps me avoid that.'
1. Kimberly:
'I love the color and would definitely wear it out. The formula went on a little gloppy though and took me a second to apply it evenly.'
2. Kim:
'I love the pink tone of this one. It instantly made my skin look instantly tanner, making it my favorite already.'
3. Kiki:
'This one is a little more pink, but I like the texture: It's less gloppy and goes on more evenly than the first option. Still, the second shade and formula is my fave.'
4. Kimmie:
'This one is peachier, but I like it because I usually wear an apricot blush, so it brings my look together. I'd definitely wear this one on a regular basis.'
Tester #4: Maya
'To be real, I haven't found one nude lip shade that I absolutely love. When I do go nude (which is rare because I'm deathly afraid of my lips looking ashy) I usually end up mixing a shit ton of neutral brown shades until I've achieved the hue I love. The only cool-nude I constantly go back to is Anastasia Beverly Hill's Liquid Lipstick in 'Sepia'.'
1. Kimberly:
'This is definitely not a brown girl nude. I would pair this with a dark brown liner to balance out the light pink undertone so it feels more like a true nude for my skin tone.'
2. Kim:
'The texture is really hard to control. I felt like the gloss was going to slide off my mouth, and the hue was way too light for my dark complexion. It also comes off really easily and isn't long-lasting.'
3. Kiki:
'This reminds me of a pink I wore in seventh grade. It's not a grown-ass woman pink on me, and I wouldn't wear it on a date or anywhere I needed to rely on my lipgloss to be poppin' because it would come off in two seconds. I do think if paired with a light berry-pink liner, it could be good with an ombré lip, but never just by itself.'
4. Kimmie:
'This is probably my favorite. The 'Kimmie' is the only shade that doesn't make my lips look absolutely ashy — aka it's not too light, so it suits my skin tone the best. Something about the texture feels less slippery than the others too, and I can actually control where it goes on my lips. I just wish it were matte!'
