Roses are red, violets are blue, and Dior never disappoints on the beauty front (fact).

From the deepest, darkest purple lips to last season's intricate multi-braid topknot, the Parisian brand can basically do no wrong and the SS18 show was no exception.

Two words: fat lashes.

Two more: get excited.

Let us explain (because you're going to want to know the details, trust us). Backstage, make-up legend and the mastermind behind your favourite Dior products, Peter Phillips told us: 'We're going for a contemporary take on a 60's girl, which translates into fat, statement, spidery lashes and a simple yet graphic liner.' Tick, tick.

To create the liner look, Peter pulled out an absolutely g-e-n-i-u-s trick that had the entirety of backstage whipping out their phones to film it (ourselves included) and one that will improve your liner game invariably.

Peter used the flame of a lighter to liquefy the Diorshow Kohl slightly, making it much more controllable, intense and longer-lasting, whilst doubling up as a clever disinfectant.

Once softened, he then ran the tip of the kohl along the lower and upper waterlines to frame the eyes and make them pop. Now, if that little manoeuvre doesn't warrant genius status we're not sure what does.

Moving onto the lashes - it might look like you just pile on a load of mascara with wild abandon but there's actually an art to getting it right. Luckily, it's fairly easy to master by following these six simple steps.

CURL...

Your lashes from the root to make the most out of their natural length.

PRIME…

Lashes top and bottom with Diorshow Maximizer 3D. It's crucial that you really push the brush right into the roots of your lashes, if you don't it leaves your lashes fragile at the base and they'll drop a little. And don't worry, it's supposed to be white.

LACQUER…

Your lashes up with layers of Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Mascara'N' Volume Mascara. Apply in a zigzag motion, moving in a sequence from left top, left bottom, right top to right bottom. By the time you've completed one round your lashes are ready for another coat. Anywhere from two to five should do the trick.

TIDY…

Up your mess with a cotton bud dipped in micellar water.

COMB…

Your lashes through to separate them enough that they're on the right side of clumpy.

LINE…

With your new game-changer eyeliner trick that you want to tell everyone you know about (or keep to yourself and count the compliments – we won't judge).
