We've all seen the sellotape eyeliner hacks and regretted it when we still couldn't get that perfect cat eye right.

But fear not, because we've just discovered the SS18 backstage beauty trend that means you can grab those extra ten minutes in the morning so you can pick up that pumpkin spiced latte you definitely need.

Enter 'thumbprint eyeliner'. Trust us, it sounds weird, but it's a thing.

This daring eye make-up look isn't for wallflowers, instead it promises to make a statement.

Our advice? Don't be delicate, more is more in this case. And if you're not a dab hand at lips, then great because this is all about the eyes.

The aim is to create a rounded swoop of eyeshadow on the outside corner of your eye sort of like the shape of a thumbprint.

Requiring zero liquid liner and zero effort, you can simply use your thumb to create the grunge-glam look…hence the name.

No perfect lines or flicks required, the messier the finished look, the better.

Finally, designers have joined us in our CBA make-up routines with Kendall, Gigi and Bella all rocking the lazy-girl look everywhere from Tom Ford to Jason Wu.

And if your inner neat freak still needs to be satisfied, look to Tommy Hilfiger where thumbprint eyeliner was reincarnated with a more 'stay within the lines' take on the trend, whilst Julien Macdonald opted for an all-out smoke effect.

Even the celebs are getting in on the action. Em Rata's go-to make-up artist, Hung Vanngo, got his hands on the trend, 'printing' the smudged-liner look on Selena Gomez for her appearance at Coach's SS18 show.

Vanngo combined the stars' last-minute liner with sparkling gold glitter eyeshadow and a red lip, and we're all about her uber-glam look. Who said you can't wear eyes and lips at the same time, anyway?

The verdict - Thumbprint eyeliner might just be the most practical (and lazy) beautyhack we've seen in a long time.

We'll be leaving the sellotape at home next time.
