Born out of TriBeCa, Ten Over Ten is a nail salon that feels like you’re in a rich friend’s apartment, in other words it’s homely and luxurious. There are iPads at each station and you can pay on account to avoid smudging a pristine mani post-paint.
The salon has its own polish line and has even collaborated on nail shades with cult indoor cycling club SoulCycle. With SoulCycle set to head over to the UK next year, here’s hoping Ten Over Ten hitches a ride...
Nail Artist Jin Soon Choi is a big name in New York having lived there since she moved from Korea in 1991.
A regular backstage at New York Fashion Week, she was spotted painting models’ nails at shows like Marchesa, J.Mendel and Vera Wang for autumn/winter ’13.
Last year Jin launched her eponymous nail collection which is stocked in Space NK in the US, we’re hoping Nicki Kinnaird will bring the brand over here pronto.
The colour selection is vast and the bottles would look great lined along any dressing table. Plus, it has the backstage seal of approval - shades Salma and Demi were layered up to create just the right red shade for the AW13 Calvin Klein Collection show.
We don’t mean to be demanding but we want the polishes and subscription service to launch here. Like now (please).
Laqa & Co. merges the worlds of art and beauty. The outer packaging of every Nail Art Pen and Polish are covered in unique artwork by up-and-coming artists with each getting a cut of the profit from every sale.
Plus, online at laqaandco.com/artists the brand showcases a different artist each month. Lucky for us Laqa & Co. is stocked in the UK at Harvey Nichols, Austique and the W Hotel.
Launched last year in Los Angeles, Morgan Taylor has quickly expanded to reach the UK with 100 shades stocked in Urban Retreat at Harrods.
The brushes are packed with 200 more bristles than your average brush which means you can coat each nail in fewer brush strokes meaning more even coverage.
Still don’t think you’d be able to perfect a salon-worthy mani? No worries, you can book in for a Morgan Taylor Manicure, from £42, and Pedicure, from £57.
