Trust Christopher Bailey’s girls to set the standard when it comes to bold, beautiful brows this summer. Now firmly a staple in our make-up repertoire we’ve imagined them with six of our favourite SS12 looks, proving just how versatile they can be…
Tanned, glossy and glowing skin is a catwalk staple for summer. Nobody does it better than Blumarine but to add structure to luminous highlights and perfectly sculpted cheekbones, we’ll be wearing with our staple brows. To add a slicked edge to yours, once they’re groomed run some clear brow gel through to set in place.
We love this slightly retro black flick that exudes old school elegance but to make even more of a statement we love the idea of adding stronger brows – just be sure to leave the rest of the face and lips polished, but completely, nude before you start filling in your arches.
One of the standout looks of the season, we can’t wait to dip our toe in the ombre lips trend, and this Prabal lip mixes the perfect blend of vibrant fuchsia and moody plum. To add weight to the top half of your face and balance to the overall look, pair with groomed, filled in brows. Choose a powder or a pencil and try to catch the hairs themselves, rather than the skin underneath.
Playing with earthy browns is a softer, more flattering way to do smoky eyes and is perfect for a summer foray into the trend. To give this smouldering Cavalli look a harder edge pair with full, more masculine brows (be sure to brush up your brows first, before you pencil, to see where they really need filling in).
Vamp up your evening look by pairing dramatic eyes with statement lips. This YSL look ticks all the boxes for an evening out, but to keep it looking polished and pulled together wear with this summer’s must-have brow. Start filling in from the arch and work backwards to the tips, then look at the front section and only fill in where necessary.

This flushed cheeks and lips combination is resolutely girly and perfect for everything from spring weddings to summer parties. To toughen it up a little, sweep a pencil through your brows to add a little strength – if you’re nervous about wearing so much pink, fuller, more defined brows provide a good anchor for the colour.
