The ELLE beauty team has spent the week with the make-up artists backstage at London Fashion Week to bring you the big S/S 09 trends hot off the London catwalks, plus all the tips you need to recreate the looks come spring.
TwistsTwists, plaits and ‘rolled’ hair were all over the London catwalks and proves how London is always pushing the envelope – just look at Roksanda Ilincic and Todd Lynn for proof. At Todd Lynn, the front section of hair was rolled around wadded netting to create the striking look. For a simpler take, Margaret Howell’s twisted buns and Marios’ twisted ponytails are easy updos to try at home.Click here to see the Roksanda Ilincic show

Bold LipsA bold, bright lip colour can make your look pop, especially if your clothes are purposefully dressed down. Coral, red or lilac in matte or gloss are going to be super hot colours for spring. Backstage at the shows make-up artists such as Lisa Eldridge and Val Garland were blending lipstick shades together to get just the right colour, which has inspired the whole ELLE team to start getting arty with our lipsticks too.Click here to see the Danielle Scutt show

Wet Look HairWet look hair is a massive trend for spring/summer 09 and adds instant edge to an outfit. To work the look at home, Hair stylist Lindell Mansfield told us to use Kiehls, ‘Just out of the shower’ gel on wet hair, which should keep your locks looking ‘drenched’ for longer. Take your cue from the models at Marios Schwab, Richard Nicholl and Christopher Kane and work the look with a fierce updo, a refreshing alternative to summer beach waves.Click here to see the Amanda Wakeley show
