The international shows are an exhausting but exhilarating part of my calendar. For two months of the year my time is spent dashing from city to city and show to show, chatting to hair and make-up artists, sleeping very little and grabbing a bite to eat where I can. Of course being privy to the latest trends as they happen means Ive seen some gorgeous looks, tried some exciting products and met some very talented people, and the 2010 shows were no exception. This picture encapsulates the madness of being backstage, one model barely visible beneath the flaying arms of five hair stylists. Although the model may not be enjoying it much it’s a heady, exciting and fast-paced atmosphere that I love being a part of.

Organisational skills are of utmost importance when you’re a travelling hair stylist. I always get inspired to sort out my own products when I’m backstage – Sally’s Hair and Beauty is the first place I visit for storage solutions.

Although I’m not sure I could pull off this look myself there’s something about its unashamedly glamorous and outrageous use of colour that I just adore. Definitely one of my favourite looks of the season.

The shows are a great opportunity to catch up with some of my favourite people who work backstage. The lovely and very talented Mr Eugene Souleiman is someone I always look forward to seeing. Here we are having a cuddle at Narciso Rodriguez SS11.

I loved this show because it marked a real return to elegance. Every component came together – glossy berry lips and nails, polished skin and silky hair to make a really beautiful, grown up statement.
