Spring summers beauty trends saw a return to fun. From the electric lips that punctuated several shows to the glitter, nail art and candyfloss-esque hair in between, the spring/summer shows were a true expression of the fanciful and the frivolous. Too tricky to choose just one, both these shows deserve a mention for the beautiful yet understated craftsmanship of make-up artist extraordinaire Peter Philips. Paired with scrubbed faces and not much else, the powdery explosions of melon and magenta were breathtaking.

Part of my favourite bit about being privy to all the news and gossip of the backstage teams is that I often get my hands on new products before they launch. Here I am clutching a very sacred first sample of L’Oreal Professionnel’s Beach Fizz, which I hasten to add, is brilliant.

Everything about this show was a real delight. From the setting inside a sunshine-filled marquee in the heart of Bloomsbury to the lemon tints on eyelids and the fairy-like halos of plaits that snaked around models’ head. Oh and let’s not forget the shoes…
Nothing summed up this season’s love of bold, brash colour-blocking quite like the hair at Altuzarra. Bravo Paul Hanlon, we say.

Nothing says disco quite like opaque glitter nails, as seen as House of Holland and Holly Fulton.
I loved how Milan pulled out all the stops when it came to hair accessories. From PVC pouches at Versace to decadent headscarves at Moschino and Missoni and caps at Marni, they were all the rage.

Having just signed as Estee Lauder’s creative Director make-up artist Tom Pecheux found himself stuck when it came to finding an electric orange eye shadow within the brand’s existing range. Having no luck instead he simply swept a lip pencil across models’ lids and blended well. It looked beautiful and even prompted Lauder to create a special orange collection as a tribute to the show.
