It used to be the case that if you wanted to get your hands on some of the beauty industry's most lusted after products, you might have to look further than your local Boots. Annoyingly, many of beautys most-mentioned, cult brands were discovered, and stocked up on, by those in-the-know on trips to foreign shores. Now, some of those brands are heading to the UK, which means we can all give them a try without booking ourselves a return flight to NY. Heres ELLEs need-to-know on the brands and products to try this autumn
A household name down under, the Natio beauty range is sold in over 2000 stores across Australia. Now it’s arriving in the UK (there are 212 products just launched in Debenhams nationwide and online) and already has British beauty insiders and bloggers falling over themselves to give it their expert seal of approval. Why? Natio fuses natural ingredients with scientific methods to deliver products that really work, but don’t cost the earth. To help you navigate their vast product range including hair, skincare, bodycare and make-up, we recommend the radiance- boosting Glow Skin Brightening Face Balm, £13, and the Natio Wellness Body Gloss, £14 which contains shea butter and vitamin e to moisturise, and pomegranate to protect – it leaves a healthy sheen to the skin too.
Working in much the same way as an electric tooth brush – but for the skin - the Clarisonic Skincare Brush, £146.81, vibrates at a frequency of more than 300 movements per second, for a cleanse that is twice as effective as washing your face by hand. It was launched in the states five years ago and has a fan list that reads like a roll-call of the top American beauty journalists and editors. ‘It removes everything,’ Nicky Kinnaird, founder of Space NK and new British stockist of the Clarisonic explains. ‘It also allows all of your precious serums and creams to penetrate much better.’ The deep cleanse over time is also known to even out skin tone and prevents blemishes and break-outs.
Tel Aviv based dermatologist Dr Kadir is well known in the middle east, as well as having a cult following in New York (Jennifer Aniston and Madonna are fans). His Matrix Gold Mask, £110, brightens, lightens and hydrates skin in just 2-4 weeks thanks to the pomegranate and avocado oil it contains. ‘You can also blend the shimmering cream into your make-up for an instant pick-me-up or on cheekbones to give the most gorgeous golden highlight’, says make-up artist Liz Pugh – another fan of the brand. ELLE also loves Matrix serum, £95, which fills fine lines instantly as well as working over time to reduce their appearance for good. We use it as a primer for a flawless complexion.Dr Kadir, now stocked at beautyslave.co.uk
We spotted this miracle oil treatment for hair, £29.25 by Moroccanoil, backstage at more than a few shows at New York Fashion Week. Hair stylists love it as it gives models’ hair shine, even after all that endless Fashion Week backcombing and blow drying, and works as a great base for styling. At home, use it to tame frizz and unruly hair, as well as speeding up styling time by 40%. Originally from Canada, Moroccanoil is made with Argan Oil sourced via fair trade from the southern region of Morocco. to snap it up fast, your hair will thank you for it.Click here
A fashion designer synonymous with the 1980s, Mugler’s style creations were bold and exaggerated. And his beauty products are just as excessive - Angel is a scent that polarises woman - you either love it or hate it, and his make-up collection is no different. Up until now Mugler cosmetics have only been available in France, but this Christmas the collection hits counters in the UK. Our favourites from the range are the Plexi Gloss Lip Lacquer, £24.50 which looks holographic in the tube, but is surprisingly wearable, and the Magma Explosion Glitter Lip Wax, £21.50, which can be used on lips, cheeks and eyes. Available nationwide from 1 November.
Embryolisse’s Lait Crème Concentre, £14.68 is a three-in-one product which cleanses, moisturises and can be used as a mask. It is an elusive French pharmacy ‘miracle’ cream with a cult following. Make-up artists swear by it for replenishing models’ skin before applying make-up as it makes a great primer, and models love it for banishing break-outs on over worked skin. Now ScreenFace have bought this must-have product over to the UK, make sure you snap it up before it sells out.
Cetaphil is a good quality, value brand from the US known for its mild, kind formulas. It has become a go-to brand for those in the know because of its ability to calm sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis, acne or rosacea. The hero product in the range is the Gentle Cleanser, £7.99, which removes dirt and make-up without drying sensitive skin, it also won’t disturb the skin’s natural pH levels and can be removed with a tissue if you find tap water too drying. It may be a basic beauty buy, but it has the A-List seal of approval – Natalie Portman is a fan.

These teeth whitening strips, previously available in US drugstores only, have been a can’t-live-without buy for beauty insiders for years. Once-a-day for seven days you apply the strips for five minutes to your upper and lower teeth and in just one week teeth look considerably whiter, reaching their maximum white potential. They literally take years off your teeth and at ELLE we’ve long been fans, using them once a year to keep teeth pearly white.

Ginvera's Marvel Gel, £15, is a must-have beauty buy in China and Japan and has now been brought to the UK by cultbeauty.co.uk. The light, exfoliating gel-mask contains green tea extract to boost the skin’s metabolism, while also giving antioxidant protection. Massaged in and left for a couple of minutes the mask turns dry and flaky, you then massage it off with dry hands for an exfoliating effect, finally rinse with warm water. The product’s appeal is that it is gentle enough to use on sensitive or blemish-prone skin, exfoliates dry skin and gives normal complexions a boost. Pore size, along with black and white heads are reduced and removed after just a couple of uses. No wonder it has already set tongues wagging in beauty circles over here.
Georgia Collins, ELLE’s Beauty Assistant, swears by these energy-boosting effervescent tablets when she is racing backstage from show-to-show during New York Fashion Week. Airborne tablets have been widely available in the US for years and now you can pick them up at Bliss pharmacy in the UK. ‘They’re like Berocca - but better’ Georgia says, ‘great for boosting the immune system and my energy levels, plus with these I know I’m getting all my vitamins during hectic show time.’ Keep a supply on hand for when you’re feeling run down.Energy tablets, £8.99 by Airborne at Bliss Life
