The look: Autumnal shades reigned supreme on the catwalks. Coffee, mushroom, taupe and khaki hues were chosen over greys and blacks to create smoky eyes from subtle to sultry.
Seen at: Chloe, Anna Sui and Roberto Cavalli (pictured).
ELLE's Top Tip: This is a grown-up look where the shadow, rather than the lashes, takes centre stage. Try brown mascara or a light coat of black and ensure your brows are groomed to perfection.
ELLE's favourite brown eye look was smouldering on models at Roberto Cavalli. To recreate the look you need Revlon's Colorstay in Neutral Khakis.Use the golden hue all over the eyelid and under the lashline; then blend the green shade into the crease. Finally add aubergine shadow in the centre of the lid; and layer with Revlon Satin Eyeshadow in Shimmering Sienna. If you really want to smoulder apply the shadows with a wet brush to intensify the colour.
Revlon Colorstay in Neutral Khakis, £7.99, Revlon Luxurious Colour Satin Eyershadow in Shimmering Sienna, £4.99 at Boots
Brighten the look by adding a touch of shimmer on the inside corner of the eye and under the lashline. We love Stargazer's Eye Dust in Honeycomb Sparkles.
Stargazer Eye Dust in Honeycomb Sparkles, £3
Some liquid liners just won't cut it on the inner lash line, but Bare Escentuals' liner works just as well on the inside as it does on the the eyelid. A must for your make-up bag.
Bare Escentuals Intense Black Eyeliner, £12
At Roberto Cavalli black mascara was used to give light definition to the look. To keep things looking natural use Max Factor's lightweight Xperience Volumising Mascara.
Max Factor Xperience Volumising Mascara, £10.99 at Boots
Decleor's moisturiser is rich enough to allow you to really massage it into your skin, leaving it feeling plump and looking refreshed. With Neroli Essential Oil as the main ingredient it smells divine and leaves your skin feeling comfortable all day; it protects against free radicals as well.
Decleor Hydra Floral Anti-Pollution Moisturising Cream, from £30
Rather than loading the skin up with product, this primer is used strategically in the areas that really need it. Blend over fine lines, spots or large pores for an even base; you can also use it over make-up to combat shine.
NARS Skin Smoothing Face Prep, £23
MAC's Face and Body foundation is a mainstay backstage during fashion week. It's lightweight, yet high pigment, formula helps you create a flawless, dewy complexion.

While your fingers do a fine job of make-up application, for true perfection you need to use a brush. Use BECCA's Polishing Brush to appy light layers of foundation onto your skin; the result will look airbrushed.
BECCA Polishing Brush, £38
Highlighting and shading takes some proper skill. This compact powder includes four shades from ivory to bronze, all infused with a subtle gold sheen. Swirl a big brush and lightly dust over cheekbones, brow bones and your nose.
Too Faced Caribbean Compact, £18.50 at Debenhams
The look: Geometric and experimental, this look will help you stand out from the crowd.
Seen at: Isabel Marant, Jean Paul Gaultier and Giambattista Valli (pictured)
ELLE's Top Tip: Rest your elbow on a table to give you stability when you're drawing the eyeliner on. Once you've mastered the technique, you can be experimental with shapes and colours.
You need your eye area to look perfect before you start. Smashbox's Eye Beam is double ended, use the larger pencil to lighten the eyes at the inner corners where dark circles can wreak havoc. The smaller pencil works a treat on the inner eye to brighten.
Smashbox Eye Beam, £19.75 at QVC (includes a Lip beam)
To get that 60s style graphic eye from Giambattista Valli you'll need a white liner. Model's Own white pencil is perfect as it lasts well and being a pencil it will soften the look. Look to Yves Saint Laurent and Miu Miu's a/w 10 shows if you want inspiration on crayola-coloured graphic eyes.
Models Own Kohl Eye Liner in White, £4 at Boots
To fill your graphic shape, use a charcoal eyeshadow. MUA do a great selection of shadows and they're only £1 each which allows for experimentation. Use MUA's glitter liner in shade 10 to layer over the shadow for a real party eye.
MUA Matte Shadow in shade 19 and Glitter Liner in shade 10, £1 each at Superdrug
Avoid strip lashes here as they will look too heavy. Instead experiment with applying individual clusters to the edges which give a fuller, more fluttery effect. Starting at the inner corner apply using tweezers, pushing the tip of the lashes right into your lash line and holding in place until secure.
Ardell Individual Lashes, £5
The Look: From subtle stains to high glamour gloss, lips are darker and more sultry this season; even glamorously gothic if you like.
Seen at: Issa, Charles Anastase and Antonio Berardi (pictured)
ELLE's Tip: Pair your bold lip with a flawless complexion and barely there eye make-up to keep it looking modern.
Dry flaky lips just won't do. Keep them soft and supple with a dose of Du Wop's Plumping Paste. This moisturising exfoliator will slough away dead skin, while softening for soft and smooth lips.
Du Wop Plumping Paste, £15
