Another year, another whirlwind of beauty launches. But which new products have gone from just another new tester, to make-up bag staples? The ELLE Beauty Team reveals the 12 products launched in 2010 that we cant bear to live without
This is Liz Earle's first foray into haircare, and as a brand known for its natural skincare formulas, I was a smidge sceptical. I was thrilled to be provenwrong. The milky texture smells of wonderfully clean botanicals and works up a proper lather. And what's even better is the silky thick salon-like finishit leaves on the hair. It works brilliantly for giving my hair a detox and letting it dry naturally or just for a normal day of styling. It’s my favourite shampoo so far.Emma Smith, Beauty Director

This super punchy anti-aging cream comes with an affordable price point. I wax lyrical about investing in your skin, you only have one face after all, but a lot of the best concoctions come with a hefty price tag. The pro-gene technology in L'Oreal's Youth code has been 10 years in the making. It uses a technology that targets the genes responsible for youthful renewal to boost them, replenishing the skin's turnover power to give you a young complexion. I saw a difference within three weeks, and woke up looking more rested.

I'm a tough customer when it comes to fragrance, and I rarely stray from my tuberose-rich By Kilian Beyond Love or L'Artisan Parfumeur's Tubereuse. But this bottle caught my attention. Dense with white flowers like hyacinth and jasmine, it has a powdery finish that smells beautifully grown up. It’s perfect daywear for me - and I love to pair this scent with a snuggly cashmere sweater.

Love, Chloé, from £38 for 30ml EDP
This mascara gives me both longer and fuller lashes; because of the genius brush I can reapply all day with no clumping. I always wear a smokey eye and this is an effortless finish – especially as I don’t always have the patience for lash extensions.

L’Oreal Paris Volume Million mascara, £10.99
Lancome’s latest foundation has light-reflecting properties so it gives my skin a radiance that looks like I’ve had eight hours sleep even when I’ve only had two. It’s my saviour when I’m out and about during fashion month visiting all the cities.

Lancome Teint Miracle foundation, £25
I know what you’re thinking, £35 for a lipstick is excessive, and you’re probably right. But, I have worn Tom Ford’s Lip Color in Blush Nude almost every day since I got it back in April which works out at about 1p per wear. It is by far my favourite lipstick – great, true colour, long lasting and comfortable to wear.

I’m fussy about foundation because my skin has uneven pigmentation and I’m prone to the odd blemish. Max Factor’s lightweight foundation launched in October and it hasn’t left my make-up bag since. It evens out my skin tone and gives me a flawless look without appearing too heavy. Oh, and the price tag is affordable too.

Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation, £12.99
I’m a sucker for anything with scientific sounding ingredients and this has plenty. Since its launch in September I have used it twice a day on my face but also on my shoulders where I have some freckly signs of sun damage. It contains kojic acid which inhibits the enzymes that produce melanin and glycolic acid to exfoliate the skin –combined they make a pretty powerful skin brightening and pigmentation fighting duo. With the amount of samples that flow in to the office on a daily basis it takes one hell of a product to earn a place on my dressing table but this is definitely one of them. I have never received so many compliments on my skin as I have since using this product.

Despite all the lovely products I get to trial in the name of work I have always used the same hand cream (The Body Shop Almond Daily Hand & Nail Cream, £8). That is until now. Whilst I haven’t totally abandoned my old faithful I now also keep a tube of M LAB Anti-Aging Hand Treatment SPF20, £55 that launched in October in my handbag. Hands are quick to give way to the signs of ageing so the deciding factor for me wasn’t just that it hydrates, sinks in well and contains a broad spectrum sunscreen (a must) but it also comes with a whole host of anti-aging ingredients such as squaline which delivers fatty acids to the skin to keep it plump, antioxidants to protect against free radicals and sunflower seed oil to replenish the lipid barrier. In addition to all this it contains skin brighteners to give a subtle illumination.

I’m a tad fanatical about my lashes and employ every possible tactic to get as much growth out of them as humanly possible. When this mascara launched in September I immediately integrated it in to my lash growth arsenal. It contains a complex which helps to lengthen the growth phase of lashes and since I started using it I’ve seen a significant change to the length of my lashes. In addition to this, it’s also pretty good as a regular mascara; the wand is just the right size to reach all the short corner hairs, it separates effortlessly and makes my lashes appear thicker.

I love the red lip look. I hate the effort of creating it. Which is why when I tried this bright red lip crayon, I did a little jump of joy. It’s the perfect fire-engine red (a shade I always get complimented on), a great non-drying texture and the precision afforded by a crayon means I don’t need liner and I don’t get smudgy edges. It’s so straightforward I even apply it sitting at my desk.

I see Advanced Night Repair (or simply ANR as we have come to call it) as a bit of an insurance policy for my skin. I turned 25 this year (same age as ELLE, actually), promptly spotted a couple of fine lines and felt it was time to start paying attention to my eyes too. Luckily Estée Lauder were on my wavelength, as they launched ANR for eyes – same antioxidant-packed technology, but tailored to eyes. Peace of mind in a pot.
