Charlotte Tilbury
No mention of Charlotte is far from talk of her Magic Cream. A-list celebrities like Penelope Cruz, Miranda Kerr and close friend, Kate Moss, swear by it (and obsess over everything else in her makeup range) and she’s often the backstage makeup artist of choice for friend, Tom Ford.
Diane Kendal
Not only has Diane developed cosmetic lines for Calvin Klein in the past, she’s also currently the Beauty Product Consultant and Makeup Artist for Marc Jacobs Beauty. Her makeup styling has appeared in advertising campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Miu Miu, Jil Sander, NARS, Sephora and Yves Saint Laurent Beauté and she’s a regular backstage beauty force during New York Fashion Week.
Eugene Souleiman
He’s worked with fashion’s finest photographers and was co-Creative Director of Bumble & Bumble, Editorial Director at Vidal Sasson and Creative Director of Tecni.Art/ L’Oreal Professionnel before being appointed the Global Creative Director of Care & Styling at Wella Professionals. Quite a few accolades there.
Gucci Westman
With a name like Gucci, she was bound for success and that’s exactly what this American makeup artist and Revlon Global Artistic Director has had. Not only does she regularly beautify the faces of Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba and Cameron Diaz, she’s also lent her craft to the Hollywood movies including, Being John Malkovich, Buffalo 66 and French Exit.
Guido Palau
Redken’s Creative Consultant, the busiest runway stylist in the industry and a driving force behind the 90s grunge look, Guido’s big break came when he styled Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz and Cindy Crawford for George Michael’s Freedom! Music video in the 90s. Good place to start.
James Kaliardos
In addition to being the Creative Director of L’Oréal Paris International, Kaliardos co-founded the art and fashion publication Visionaire in 1991 (a creative outlet for hundreds of artists) and the culture and fashion magazines V Man and V Magazine. Multi-tasker then!
Madeline Poole
With a history in miniature painting and art restoration, it’s only fitting that Sally Hansen’s Global Color Ambassador, Madeline, is able to create mini Picassos on nail beds, making her the nail artist of choice for shows like Stella McCartney and Cushnie et Ochs.
Odile Gilbert
You know Kirsten Dunst’s incredible wigs in Marie Antoinette? Well, they were the creations of this prominent French hairstylist. To date she’s also the only female hairstylist to be awarded the insignia of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres – which is a pretty big deal.
Orlando Pita
His client list reads like the Hollywood walk of fame with Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce all calling upon him to get glossy. He also owns a salon, Orlo, in the meatpacking district of New York as well as a hair care line aptly named, Orlando Pita.
Val Garland
She’s worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, from Kate Moss to Georgia May Jagger, and can be found backstage during fashion week working her MAC cosmetics magic to create everything from the simple statements at Dion Lee to the sultry smoky eye at Monique Lhullier.
Sharon Dowsett
The Maybelline UK Makeup Director’s work has appeared in a number of glossies and Kate Hudson and Dita von Teese are regulars of hers. She was also responsible for the beauty look Lily Allen sported in her Hard Out Here video.
Sophy Robson
She’s the celebrity manicurist and original art guru who’s decked out the digits of Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and Rita Ora; was the brains behind those flag nails at the 2012 Olympics and launched her stick-on nails, Nail Its, last year to the excitement of all who have long struggled with the fine nail art brush.
Tom Pecheux
Tom Pecheux actually started out as a pastry chef, but luckily for the beauty and fashion world, turned his hand to makeup in the early 90s under the encouragement of Mario Testino and Carine Roitfeld. He is now Creative Make-up Director of Estée Lauder.
Pat McGrath
Max Factor's global and creative design director has worked with the likes of Prada, Miu Miu and Dolce and Gabbana showcasing her unique work and if that wasn't enough was named an MBE in 2013.
