The general consensus this Cruise season? More is more and less is a bore, aka our life motto.

First Dior went all out in the Santa Monica desert with the right way to work hat hair, next Louis Vuitton schooled everyone one how to make larger than life Kabuki eyeliner a thing (and Valentino followed suit), and now Gucci has, well, Guccified everything.

Adding pearl embellishment to just about every extremity, Gucci just made OTT hand bling a thing. Yes, that's an official beauty term...

Landing in the magical Pitti Palace in Florence, the fashion house sent models wafting down the Botticelli-adorned halls working Alessandro Michele's go-to beauty look - totally unique hair and make-up for everyone, as per.

From uber long Rapunzel-esque plaits and hairbands of golden vine leaves, to, what we like to call, pearl balaclavas, if it was embellished and fantastical, it walked the runway.

But look closer, and there was one whimsical detail thing tying every maximalist look together - yup, we're talking about hand bling.

Piling Medieval-esque knuckle rings and, what we've dubbed, palm cuffs (bands of gold with starbursts covering the backs of hands) on top of backstage nail pro Jenny Longworth's 'dipped ink' fingers and nails, models' were literally dripping with bling.

Our favourite look? Inspiring us, yet again, to coin new hand accessory-based terminology, Gucci's monogrammed hand cage confections were the least practical, and most totally fabulous, thing we've seen all season.

Gloves minus the actual glove part? Well, how else are we going to show off our dipped ink manis? And anyway, they're so fashun.

But the gilding didn't stop there. If they weren't on fingertips, then there were pearls on eyebrows, framing faces like Renaissance portrait miniatures for lockets, or covering entire heads like the most high fashion chain mail ever.

In short, pearls are in. And if that dodgy biro leaks ink all over your hands again, go with it.
