We have to admire Katy's no holds barred costumes designed by Valentino, Moschino and more, for her new world tour Prismatic, I mean if we were her we'd go all out too. There's a butterfly cape and smiley face suit jacket (courtesy of Jeremy Scott, naturally) and so much sparkle sunglasses should be handed out to the audience on arrival.

While her costumes are nowhere near wearable, her nails we can do. Celebrity manicurist Rebecca Wilson has exclusively shared her manicure how-to with ELLE.

'The tour is called the 'Prismatic Tour' and we wanted her nails to represent that title,' Wilson told ELLE. 'The glitter was chosen because in the light it reflects every colour possible'.

Step One: We started by prepping Katy's nails and cuticles before applying one thin coat of Gelish foundation. Once cured this leaves a sticky residue - the perfect base to add glitters and pigments to.

Step two: Apply the glitter using a small, flat brush. We used MAC Pro Pigment in 3D Silver for a true prism effect. (The Mac Pro Store, 27 James Street, London, WC2E 8PA)

Step three: The glitter was sealed with a Gelish top coat and cured for a long-lasting manicure.

Step four: Finish with hand cream - my favourite is the Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve, £14.

If you don't have an at-home gel manicure kit, you can recreate the look easily using your usual base and top coat.
