Three words we never thought we'd say in the same sentence? Prosecco and nail varnish.
Yet Groupon has made it happen with "the world's first edible prosecco-flavoured nail varnish," which not only contains "real prosecco" it supposedly smells, tastes and shimmers like our favourite tipple too. Okay.
'With a delicate gold lustre, this lick-able polish looks exquisite, giving you the fun of the flavour without the sore head the next day." says Groupon.
While we're all for prosecco-flavoured products (prosecco infused tea bags, lip balms and Bellini ice lollies, sure) this beauty concoction is a little hard to swallow.
Literally.
As well as prosecco, the "highly-flammable" lacquer contains shellac E904, a dash of propylene glycol, sodium saccharin and 55 potassium aluminum silicate - with a twist of E171 Titanium Dioxide and E172 iron oxide. Erm, delicious?!
It's no wonder, then, that Groupon warns its wearers not to knock back the nail polish – but casual nibbling is fine, which we'd be willing to give it a go if the real prosecco claims hold up. Purely for research purposes, of course.
If you're considering cracking open a bottle of prosecco nail varnish, you'll have to enter Groupon's Mother's Day competition to be in with a chance of winning a bottle. Cheers.
