Despite a wardrobe featuring the likes of Alexander McQueen, Monica Vinada, Temperley London, See by Chloe, and Jenny Packham, the Duchess of Cambridge has never been one to fear the high street, having regularly been spotted in sell-out piece from the likes of Reiss' Shola dress for a meeting with the Obamas in 2011 and a Middleton favourite, the nude-coloured L.K. Bennett court shoe.

And, from the sounds of it, Kate's love of mixing designer with affordable pieces also made an appearance at her wedding to Prince William in 2011 with her choice of nail varnish.

According to OK magazine, the now 35-year-old reportedly put a request in to nail varnish giant Essie to choose a pale pink polish to wear on her wedding day.

After all, with an estimated two billion people watched the bride walk down the aisle and present her hand to the prince of him to place a wedding band around her slight fingers, it's no wonder she wanted the perfect shade of nail varnish as the cameras zoomed in closer to see the symbolic moment.

The publication reports the nail varnish shade is called 'Ballet Slippers' and can be purchased from high street favourite, Boots, no less.

However, the mother-of-two isn't the only royal to adore the Essie shade.

The brand's website reports in 1989, Queen Eliabeth II's hairdresser sent the company a letter requesting a bottle of the polish as it is 'the only colour Her Majesty would wear'.

Essie described the huge as a 'classic pale pink polish is graced with a subtle, sheer finish'.

Well if it's good enough for Kate and the Queen… *runs to nearest Boots to stock up on the colour*.
