On Friday, Katy Perry took to Instagram Live while promoting her new single, "Bon Appétit" in Times Square. The singer was in New York City to hand out slices of cherry pie to fans.
During the livestream, however, things took an uncomfortable turn when a fan mentioned missing Perry's black hair (she went platinum blonde in February).
"Oh, someone says, 'I miss your old black hair,'" Perry said before sarcastically adding, "Oh, really? Do you miss Barack Obama as well? Oh, OK. Times change. Bye! See you guys later."
After the awkward comment, Perry laughed and said, "I should leave now." Someone off camera added, "You're cut off!"
Fans called out the comments on Twitter, with one describing them as "offensive" and "tasteless."
