OK, there are over 80 finalists in 26 categories, so we won’t be able to mention every single winner (we would be here all day, we were at the lunch for almost three hours). Instead we’ll let you in on team ELLE’s favourites.
Liz Earle won in not one but three categories for its Superskin Body Cream, Superskin Moisturiser and its classic Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser . Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex won Best New Skincare Treatment Prestige Product. While St Tropez won in two categories and was the first brand to win in a mass and prestige category for its Wash Off Instant (Mass) and Everyday Gradual Tan Mousse (Prestige). Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up won Best New Prestige Brand, beating off Nude and Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers. And fresh from winning Best New Prestige Fragrance at the Fifis, Marc Jacobs' Lola won Best New Women’s Prestige Fragrance.
In the hair categories Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment , Kerastase Subliminateur Jour and Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor were worthy winners.
There were two special awards of the day. First, the Best Iconic Beauty Product award was snapped up, unsurprisingly, by the classic Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. Lisa Snowdon who presented the award, told the audience she relies on it - don't we all? Second was the Best British Brand, which was awarded to Elemis . Noella Gabriel , Director of Product and Treatment Development at the brand picked up the award and quipped that it was “better late than never”. She also added “it couldn’t have come on a better year” - Elemis is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Boots, who sponspred the awards, will be launching a CEW online shop from tomorrow (www.boots.com/beautyawards), where you will be able to snap up all the winning products. And, if you’re partial to a bit of QVC (it’s our guilty pleasure – only the beauty slots, mind you), it will be airing a special CEW show next Monday 26 from 8pm-10pm so you can see more about the products before you buy. Popcorn at the ready.
