Dior was a winner in the beauty stakes with a feast of varying looks. Crayola coloured eyes paired with candy floss hair ; iridescent sequins applied by the brows; big, blow-dried hair with a definite 1970s vibe , paired with glamorous glossy red lips; 1920s-esque theatrical shimmering eyes, winged liner and dark lips all made for an exciting, if eclectic, mix.
Chanel chose peachy, matte lips with navy smoky eyes covered by a band of black lace (wear as a hair band and you’ll have yourself a great party look); all (beauty fanatics) eyes were, of course, on the nails – an inky navy painted on short, rounded nail, that is already set for sell-out status.
Other shows worth noting included Giorgio Armani whose models were given red eyes (a tricky look to work off catwalk) with a graphic liner – the part of the look worth emulating. Alexis Mabille ’s models wore sleek buns with severe side partings, the look punctuated by ruby red lips . While at Giambattista Valli , make-up artist Val Garland’s inspiration was ‘Alabaster, Porcelain and Pure Perfection’; models’ lips were left natural, while eyes were heavily linered and paired with MAC’s #1 False Lashes and lashings of mascara that gave a doll-like quality to the look.
You would have thought the bandage-style hair accessories at Valli would have been the most bizarre accessory, but that accolade goes to Maison Martin Margiela where models’ heads were completely covered with lycra, leaving just a very wearable bun on show.
