Sleek hair was the biggest trend with side-parted and slicked-back hairstyles dominating the catwalks. The big guns, Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino and Giambattista Valli, all featured models with androgynous hairstyles.
Bold lips was another stand out trend with the models at Georges Chakra proving summer’s vampy lip isn’t going anywhere next season, while over at Christian Dior a two-tone neon tomato red and fuchsia pink lip had team ELLE reaching for the brightest lipsticks we could find on Monday after the show.
Luxe hair was another hot look, with 1970s-esque luscious lengths flowing down the catwalks at Versace, Rolland and Vaulthier.
Looking for something pretty? Elie Saab delivered inspiration with a beautiful braided up-do, while Bouchra Jarrar chose an effortless, prettily-dishevelled hairstyle for the models. Yiqing Yin also opted for braids woven into airy-textured hair.
Of course, Couture isn’t Couture without some downright mad looks. Those came courtesy of Giambattista Valli who swapped lipstick for butterflies – very Silence of the Lambs. At Alexis Mabille gravity-defying ponytails were topped off with jewelled brooches. Aura put one model in completely impractical glittering glasses (with matching glitter lips, which we adored), while at Maison Martin Margiela make-up artists were given the day off – well, who needs cosmetics when you have a jewel-embossed face-covering mask?
