Make-up artist Karin Darnell had an added challenge yesterday when creating Rihanna's make-up look for her Sunday night X Factor performance of new single Diamonds.
'Rihanna gets soaking wet during the performance, so everything I used had to be creme based or waterproof!' Darnell exclusively told ELLE.
The bright fuchsia lip was the focus of Ri-Ri's look, Darnell used MAC Chromagraphic Lip Pencil in Process Magenta, with a lipstick from The Make Up Store in Mandy. But it's in heavy rain that mascara and eyeliner tend to be the first to smudge and run. Karin relied on a Lord&Berry black pencil liner 'smudged into lash line and the eyelid before I blended with a flat brush'. While Darnell's mascara of choice was Hypnose, £21 by Lancôme
For a flawless streak-proof complexion Darnell applied a Dolce & Gabbana foundation, followed by a creamy blush from Illamasqua.
Adding to the 'wet look' Darnell highlighted Rihanna's eyelids and cheekbones with Laura Mercier Creme Eye Colour in Platinum, £18.50 at Space NK.
We don't know about you but with rain forecast this week, we'll be putting Rihanna's waterproof look to the test.
