Having wowed the fashion world, Rihanna is taking on beauty with an industry-first deal with MAC.

ELLE's unstoppable April cover star will turn ‘creative partner’ with the cosmetics giant to launch four colour collections, branded RiRi [Hearts] MAC, over the course of a year.

First to hit the shelves will be RiRi Woo – a Ri-working of MAC’s iconic lipstick shade Ruby Woo.

‘When you think of makeup, the brand that pops into your mind – for something legit – is MAC,’ the singer told WWD following her River Island show at London Fashion Week. ‘Whatever colour you want, it’s like, "Let’s go to MAC." I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved makeup, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand.’

While MAC hasn’t been short of mega-star collaborators in the past, the Rihanna deal is first time it has committed to so much, so long-term.

‘We always say that MAC likes to go on a date but doesn’t really want to go into a relationship,’ jokes John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., MAC’s parent company.

But when the lady sitting across the table from you is Rihanna, then that’s a game changer.
