Rooney Mara, famous for her role as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, has a new gig as the face of Calvin Klein's new fragrance Downtown.

The star was honoured at last night's IFP and Calvin Klein Women in Film party in Cannes. Dressed in a dusky gown with her hair slicked back in a bun she took on the look of a ballerina, a far cry from the hard look of her character Salander in the films.

When asked about the role, in which she plays opposite Daniel Craig, Mara told ELLE UK, 'I love her. What makes her so appealing is that she's a real enigma.'

Downtown launches in the US in July and is set to reach British shores not long after.

Of her new role, the actress said: 'I am very excited to be included in the group of amazing women that have been featured in the iconic advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein fragrances.

The Downtown fragrance holds true to the chic, confident and simple feeling of the Calvin brand. The effortless and timeless appeal of the Calvin Klein Collection and the Downtown scent made this a natural partnership.'

Aimed at women aged 25 to 35, the fragrance is floral woody and was created by Ann Gottlieb for Givaudan. As with much of what Calvin Klein doesn't the scent is not too feminine with Italian cedrat, bergamot, Tunisian neroli, green pear and watery plum; a heart of pink peppercorn, violet leaf and gardenia petals, and a drydown of Texan cedarwood, incense, vetiver and velvet musks.
