Summer beauty secret
At ELLEuk.com we are big fans of natural beauty ingredients, which are gentle on our skin, and multi-purpose products (read time saving - we do have places to go and people to see you know), so when we discovered one beauty ingredient which could solve all our summer skin issues in one - Propolis (prop-o-lis), we were instantly hooked!
Propolis, used by bees to protect their hives from bacteria, works in a similar way to protect our precious skin from the perils of summer. We have all had sunburn, prickly heat and sensitive skin to deal with at some point and it just ain't pretty!
Head to Holland & Barratt for Propolis sold in capsule form (£9.99 for 100 capsules) which helps to heal and protect your skin from the inside out. Or try Pevonia, a luxe botanical brand who have created Soothing Propolis Concentrate £41.50, a multi-purpose serum, which can be used in conjunction with your skincare regime (before moisturising) to soothe and repair sensitive skin. It can also be used to banish bites and stings, plus it's anti-bacterial which helps prevent any future infection. Finally Traverno Organic from Adili also have a Propolis ointment £8, specially formulated to banish cracked heels and dry skin for good.
Propolis is definitely the ELLE teams new summer handbag essential.

London Fashion Week is fast approaching and this is the first year that ELLE is sponsoring London Fashion Weekend, alongside Official Make-up Sponsor Elizabeth Arden.
From the 24 -28 September you can book tickets to join the fashion pack, to shop and be pampered at the Natural History Museum, where LFW is hosted. Not only that, but Elizabeth Arden’s beauty savvy team will be available to answer all your beauty queries and to dispense their need-to-know advice. Plus, if you book your visit through ELLE and quote the code ELL1, you will be in with the chance to win an Elizabeth Arden Intervene 3in1 Daily Cleanser, which miraculously cleanses, exfoliates and primes the skin all at the same time.
Maybe we can achieve flawless catwalk complexion after all…
