The great and good of the fragrance world congregated in the grand hall for dinner and the award ceremony hosted by TV Presenter George Lamb, who joked we were the ‘best smelling audience’ he’d come across (good one George).
Organised by The Fragrance Foundation, the awards aim to recognise the best scents in luxury, mass and niche markets and are judged by a range of people from photographers and journalists to magazine readers and perfume shoppers.
The biggest gong of the night is the award for Prestige Fragrance of the Year and the 2010 winner was Lola by Marc Jacobs, while Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford Beauty won in the men's category. Last night’s winners were Gucci Guilty and Bleu de Chanel (which was the star of the night picking up not one, but three awards).
After Lola’s success in 2010, Marc Jacobs lost out for his nominated male scent Bang in two categories, but Tom Ford didn't go empty handed after last year’s success - the brand won two awards in the male and female categories for Private Blend Azure Lime proving unisex fragrances are big news right now. Katy Perry snapped up the award for Best New Celebrity Fragrance for Purr, with the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Beyonce and the Beckham's missing out on the gong.
