Travel with vanity
It's official - along with the one-piece swimsuit and the messy beehive, chic, retro vanity cases are back this summer and the coolest way to make a fashion statement on arrival - whatever your destination.
Celebrities like Peaches Geldof and Victoria Beckham have been fans of the vanity case for a while, using them not just for holidays but often shunning their everyday bags to tote a retro vanity case about town. At ELLEuk.com we're currently lusting after Lulu Guinness' new, vivid red leather version with lipstick zip charms that lend it a rockabilly edge - we want one NOW! It's just the right size to hold all your beauty holiday essentials, plus it channels a little bit of nautical and a lot of 1950s chic - so we'll be using it all summer for festivals, parties and days in the park.

Stylist, perfumier, designer and art-director Serge Lutens is set to launch his first eponymous cosmetics line at Harvey Nichols, London tomorrow.
Serge Luten’s may not be a name you instantly recognise but you have probably seen his work – or smelt it. He started his career as a photographer for top fashion magazines in Paris, but turned his hand to make-up in the sixties, producing a make-up line for Christian Dior in 1967.
In 1980 he was appointed Creative and Art Director of Shisedo and started to create his world famous fragrances. He masterminded some of Shisedo’s most iconic scents including the ‘Nombre Noir’ in 1982, before opening his own perfumery ‘Les Salons du Palais Royal’. It’s no surprise then that his latest foray in to beauty, his new collection to the UK, Serge Luten ‘Neccessaire de Beaute’, has been created with Shiseido.
And the products match Luten’s beauty credentials. Reassuringly expensive, in chic black lacquered packaging, all the products bare the hall mark of great design and a make – up professional’s expertise.
The Kohl liner, £38, is a particular favourite of ours. No pencil for Serge. His kohl eye liner is a luxuriously rich pot of inky black liner that comes with a double ended tool to apply – one end for fine lines, one for sexy smudging. We also love the new lipsticks, £49, not only for the so now berry shades, but also, they are cleverly smaller than your average lipstick, which means they will fit perfectly in to clutch bags come the party season.
We predict this will become the go-to brand for the ultimate in glamorous make-up.
Available at Harvey Nichols, London from 22nd August.
