With so much choice it's tough to know what to invest in, so we've tested the latest new mascaras of every price and brand and these are the ones we love for their different and very effective results.

New Generation Mascaras

Max Factor, Lash Extension Effect Mascara

Lash Extension Effect Mascara

by Max Factor

Price: £10.99
Stockist: Boots
current ite: - 441816
Lots of hype surrounds the launch of Max Factor’s Lash Extension Mascara, so ELLEuk.com’s Josie Gealer put it to the test.

“I find 'lash lengthening' mascaras usually mean a thick, gloopy mess. But this one gives a surprisingly natural and soft effect. It glides on easily and you can build a few layers of mascara without it clogging. It didn’t give me heavy “party-eyes” but it did give me a great “lift and separate” look for groomed daytime make-up. Perfect for the office.

Maybelline, pulse perfection mascara

Pulse Perfection Mascara

by Maybelline

Price: £14.99
Stockist: Maybelline

Vibrating gimmicks aside, this new mascara from Maybelline really works. I found the vibrating wand easier than others on the market to use – you just hold down the button when you want it to vibrate, and release the button when you don’t.
The vibrations really help to make lashes curl, so if yours are naturally pretty straight then it should help.  To really put this mascara to the test, I used the vibrating method on one eye only, and used the mascara without pressing the vibrating button on the other. Both eyes looked good, but the one with vibrations was much more curled with definite added oomph. If its full fluttery lashes and a wide-eyed bambi-esque look you’re after, then put this wand on your beauty shopping list this month.
