The Pore Perfector

Best For: blocked pores, dull complexions

How it works:
The new Bliss Pore-fector already has Megan Fox hooked, so we were intrigued to try it out. The tool looks like a small trowel and can be used in two ways. First, it harnesses sonic vibrations (27,000 per second to be precise) which combined with Bliss’ daily detoxifying facial toner (included in the set) helps to loosen blockages within your pores. Second, by turning the gadget over and using a lower-level of vibrations you can use it to push your moisturiser deeper into your skin, far more effective than using your fingers alone.

Result:
Even the dullest of complexions will end up looking more radiant. Blocked pores are stubborn so you’ll need to commit to this product for a few weeks to see.

The Daily Needle

Best for: at-home Botox

How it works:
This is an ingenious tool. Environ’s small handheld device has barely visible needles at the head, which are used to create tiny holes in your skin. It’s almost pain free but you might feel small pricking sensations around the nose and eyes. Used in conjunction with Environ’s Ionzyme Focus Frown Serum, £119, the process works like Botox. The serum contains a trio of ingredients including Argireline which works to block the receptors that cause your muscles to contract, i.e exacerbating wrinkles. By opening up the pores you enable the serum to penetrate deeper into the skin.

Result:
Far less invasive than Botox but rather than being instant, you should notice results in two-three weeks.

The Miracle Make-up

Best for: flawless, big screen worthy make-up

How it works:
Airbrushing has been used in film for an HD ready finish for years to create flawless complexions; now they are available for us to use at home. It may look intimidating but it’s actually really simple to use. You simply plug it in and pour a couple of drops of foundation into the cup. The technique involves holding the airbrush like a pen; positioning it around 6-8 inches from the skin and using circular motions to work across the face. The key to this technique? Less is more; the products are designed to be built up in light layers.

Result:
Flawless skin in minutes, very impressive. As well as foundation, you can use this tool to apply bronzer, blusher and highlighter.

The Spot Zapper

Best for: sufferers of mild to moderate acne

How it works:
Blue and red LED lights have been used for years by dermatologists to help kill spot causing bacteria (the blue light) and reduce inflammation (the red light). Studies have also shown that the light sources can treat acne, and also prevent future breakouts. Now you can buy these handheld devices for at-home use. Tanda Clear launched last month into Harvey Nichols, it only uses blue light but has been greatly received. It isn’t cheap but you only need to use it for three minutes, twice per day on the affected area to see results, ideal if you’re pushed for time.

Result:
With Tanda you should notice results in as little as a week with near complete results in a month. Unlike many traditional acne medicines and treatments, you shouldn’t suffer from any side effects.

The Power Cleanser

Best for: Deep cleansing

How it works:
This tool uses vibrations to cleanse 10 times more effectively than using a product manually. This hand-held device has a Velcro top onto which Neutrogena’s cleansing pads can be attached. You simply wet the pad and click the switch. There are two speed settings to choose from the slower speed is for daily cleansing, while the faster speed is for deeper cleansing and gentle exfoliation (best used two-three times per week). The pad will foam and you should notice the day’s dirt and grime on the pad rather than left on your skin, which is really satisfying. Once you’re finished you just remove the pad and bin it.

Result:
You should notice a brighter complexion after one use. Make this part of your daily routine and you should notice fewer blemishes appearing and smoother skin.
