Price: £19
Stockist: Boots
USP: Lightweight, compact with two speed and heat settings.
Pros: Why spend any more than £30 on a hairdryer when this does the job perfectly? Don’t kid yourself that expensive machines perform better - only a salon blow-dry achieves a better look.
Cons: It didn’t strike me as terribly compact, just a regular size.

Price: £15
USP: Lightweight, with a short nozzle for effortless styling.
Pros: With three heat setting and three power settings, paired with the lightweight and compact shell, this made drying my hair a joy.
Cons: None.
Verdict: By far the best hairdryer I have ever used.

Price: £135.65
Stockist: Windle & Moodie
USP: Uses ionic technology which, over time, improves the condition of the hair. It’s 2150W, which means drying time is seriously reduced.
Pros: In addition to having a fold away handle, it dries my hair quicker than any other dryer I have used. The ionic technology helps to reduce the static that normally plagues my fine hair.
Cons: None, I can’t fault it.
Verdict: The best hairdryer I have ever owned. It’s pricey but for the performance and the time saved it’s worth it.

Price: £24.99
Stockist: Boots
USP: The portable size.
Pros: It’s super compact, lightweight and surprisingly, pretty powerful! Looks good too.
Cons: Didn’t give me the finish my usual hairdryer does.
Verdict: Handy size and perfect for short weekends away. But, better suited for people with fine or short hair.

Price: £30.99
USP: Ionic technology and a super long cord means this hairdryer has salon credentials.
Pros: This hairdryer is lightweight, with a 3-metre cord; really powerful it’s so easy and quick to use. With ionic technology it creates a stream of negatively charged ions that break down water molecules helping to tame frizz as it dries the hair.
Cons: It’s easy to knock the digital touch control button, changing the speed and heat.

Price: from £80
Stockist: Babyliss Pro
USP: This speedy dryer has a Ferrari designed engine for a powerful and fast blow-dry.
Pros: The engine is able to generate air pressure at 2200W and it has 6 heat and speed controls, which is more than most.
Cons: The price.
Verdict: It’s very expensive for a hair dryer but it does work brilliantly, drying my hair in next to no time at all.
Emma Smith, Beauty Director, ELLE
Price: from £29.99
USP: A classic, all-round dryer with four heat and two speed settings.
Pros: I like that there are two attachments: one is super slim for a sleek look, while the large diffuser is perfect for anyone with curly hair (or those who want to achieve a beachy texture). The cool shot button was effective, I normally find them a bit luke warm.
Cons: It’s a little heavy.
Verdict: A good quality, versatile, hairdryer.
