I recently spotted some thread veins around my nose and cheeks, which were giving me a blotchy appearance. I decided a lifetime of concealing and checking for veins was not for me, so I tried laser removal. Ellipse uses short bursts of light, which destroy the walls of the veins causing them to disappear. The laser itself is 1cm by 4.8cm so can cover a good amount of the face at one time. I was in and out in less than 20minutes, including the consultation.
The therapist covered my skin in a gel, similar to that used during ultrasounds, and then set to work. The pain is best described as an elastic band pinged against the skin, it’s actually the bright flash of light that makes it seem worse. The therapist worked around my nose and also used the Skin Rejuvenation setting to treat some sun damage on my cheeks. My skin felt hot after, and for a few hours I felt like I had the most terrible sun burn, so I slapped on the Aloe Vera gel and tried to keep my mind off it.
But the pain was well worth it - my veins have completely gone. The sun damaged skin turned a ‘dirty’ brown, like dark freckles, and faded over a week. My skin now looks brighter and clearer and I no longer need to trowel on the foundation and concealer. An absolute miracle, I would recommend this to everyone.
The therapist did warn me that the veins may come back again and that I should go back in a month for a check-up and one last treatment, which will ensure I am vein free for up to five years.
