When it comes to beauty my friends look to me for tips and advice. They also find it quite bizarre when I champion some beauty products, for example the BB cream with snail secretion extract was one that didn't er, stick with my nearest and dearest. And recently cloth masks caused quite a kerfuffle when I emerged from the bathroom at a recent hen do wearing a Dr Bragi one. So much so, my friends (if I can now call them that...) took pictures of me and posted them on Facebook! But I've now been vindicated - as last night Rita Ora posted a picture of herself wearing a cloth mask on her instagram account saying 'Night night Tokyo #facemelt'. She's currently touring Japan and cloth masks are big in Asia, and while they're not new to the UK they are definitely the cream mask's lesser known cousin.

Big brands like Decleor, Creme de la Mer and Shiseido all have cloth masks in their offerings. I'm in two minds - they are a little fiddly and I'm a bit obsessive about covering every inch of my face with product when I'm wearing a mask and these cloths are not exactly one size fits all. And forget about wearing your mask and pottering about it will just slide off - you need to be horizontal.

On the up side, you need to be horizontal, which means you have to relax while wearing one. I wear them in the bath usually. Plus the effect on my complexion after wearing the Dr Bragi Marine Enzyme Intensive Treatment Mask, £10, is miraculous. It's a great pre-party skin booster, it minimises the appearance of pores, evens skin tone and brightens, all in less than 10 minutes.

Demi Moore is also a fan of the cloth mask. Her brand of choice? SKII.

And if you want a laugh, here's me...
