The UK Minister for Sport and Tourism Helen Grant, 52, left the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to join Team ELLE’s Wednesday run this week.

Ex-Olympic athlete and ELLE's go-to running trainer Tim Weeks took us all to Regents Park, where we played Stick in the Mud – a clever way of disguising HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) as a bit of fun. Well, it’s not every day you take part in playground games with a Conservative MP…

Here’s what we learnt about Helen:

What exercise do you do?

I play tennis regularly with my husband and son [Helen has two sons]. I also enjoy running.

When did you get into running?

I’ve played sport all my life and have always loved running. I represented my county in athletics and cross country.

Why do you run?

Running makes me feel alive, it gives me great energy and keeps me active and healthy.

Which sporting women inspire you?

Growing up it was Mary Peters, Olga Korbut, Nadia Comaneci and Virginia Wade.

What would be on your playlist?

My music taste is quite eclectic but I would say Green Day, One Republic and Bruno Mars.

More guest runners will join us soon, as well as guest bloggers for @ELLEUKrunning. Who would you like to see running with ELLE? Tweet us @ELLEUK
