Refreshingly, Kendall Jenner has been very vocal about her former skin strife with acne.

It's hard to believe now but the mega-model and face of Estee Lauder confessed that the skin condition left her feeling like "an outcast" – until she met top dermatologist Dr. Kidd, that is.

Three years of laser therapy treatments and a savvy skincare routine has completely cleared her complexion, but kindly Kendall has shared some insider info from her skin doc online (because not everyone has the mega-bucks for an appointment, eh).

If you suffer from acne, Dr. Kidd says it's as much about what you don't do, as what you do. "I never want you washing your face with anything abrasive," she says in the video on Kendall's website. "Not a scrub, not a rotating brush, not a washcloth. You want to treat it very delicately and just wash really well with your hands."

This comes back to the notion that most acne suffers apply a harsh approach to cleansing, which can aggravate spots.

Simple is best, Dr. Kidd says. "I often find patients have bought and are using far too many products which makes their skin worse," she also told Seventeen.com.

This means no sonic cleansing brushing, because "using anything abrasive on acne can increase inflammation of the zit, actually making it worse," or washcloths, which can also be too intense and potentially spread bacteria.

So stick to gentle - yet effective - cleansers, polishes and masks followed by non-comedogenic oil control moisturisers. Lasers and skin doctors, optional...
