Hold the phone, why have we been wasting countless pennies on expensive anti-ageing serums, if regularly turning up for happy hour at the pub could do the trick just as well?

Okay, not quite.

A new 40 per cent proof gin has been developed, with the purpose of looking after your skin while you treat your colleagues to a post-work round at the bar.

The gin, amusingly named 'Anti-a Gin,' is reportedly distilled with pure collagen (with other additions including chamomile and tea tree) which, it is thought, could help you keep your youthful looks.

So, not only do you get a little tipsy from the alcohol,  you also get an infusion of tea tree, nettle, witch hazel, chamomile plus the extra bonus of it still tasting like gin.

The gin has been commissioned by Warner Leisure Hotels, who worked with Bompas & Parr on it.

Harry Parr, co-founder of Bompas & Parr, commented: 'We've stayed true to the principles of a classic gin but given it a rejuvenating boost through these unusual botanicals that channel the fountain of youth.'

Here comes the bad news folks....

While ELLE is more than delighted by the idea of ageing backwards at the bar, we can't say we're all that convinced that drinking more gin than we already do is the secret to good looks.

If you're curious and want to try the gin for the sake of tasting something new, you can get it at 13 Warner hotel locations and drinksupermarket.com, for £34.99, but we're yet to be convinced about the rest.
