Whenever I'm feeling down or tired after a long day at work, there's nothing quite like a spritz of my signature perfume to lift my spirits and make me feel, if but for a second, like one of those fancy perfume models prancing among the flowers of a garden chateau in the South of France.
Of course, it doesn't take long before the timer on the dishwasher or the drone of a car engine outside wakes me from this dream but, it's a feeling that makes Angelina Jolie's seemingly good mood in her first fragrance advert for French brand Guerlain that bit more understandable.
Released earlier this week, the advert – dubbed 'Notes of a Woman' – sees the 41-year-old wear an array of luxurious clothing including a cream-coloured robe, an off-the-shoulder sun dress and black and white silk pyjamas, as she strolls through the countryside in Provence, France and a lavish, creme-furnished (but, of course) home, practicing her lines and preparing for an event.
The actress, who recently visited Cambodia to promote her latest film First They Killed My Father where she spoke openly about her recent divorce from husband Brad Pitt, can be seen showing of her signature smile and multiple tattoos in the advert, before spraying some of the brand's 'Mon Guerlain' perfume on her neck ahead of her night out.
According to E! Online, the luxury brand describes the scent as 'a fragrance for women who defy categorization, who embrace all that life brings and all sides of themselves, who are comfortable in their own skin and whose guiding spirit is to be true to themselves and to live a life of use to others'.
How fitting then that Jolie – a mother of six who arguably defies conventions – is the face of the perfume.
According to Guerlain, Jolie has donated all of her pay from the campaign to an undisclosed charity, thought to be is for the UN Refugee Agency or the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative, of which she is a co-founder.
Anyone else seriously tempted to buy the scent now, or is that just us?
