If you’re need a well-deserved break then head out of town to the wonderful west countryside and make your way to Monty’s Spa.

Nestled on the edge of Somerset village, Shepton Mallet (home of the Mulberry factory shop), Monty’s Spa is part of the eclectic and luxurious Charlton House Hotel. Tucked away in the basement of the hotel, the spa is designed to feel bohemian, relaxed and inviting – think terracotta walls and Moroccan throws and cushions. The spa has its own range of products which are used in all the treatments, most of which are made from organically grown Spelt Germ Oil which is high in Vitamin E and helps to banish free radicals. The healthy dishes served in the spa’s café also feature Spelt Oil – it’s clear that they take a holistic approach to your well being.

The signature body treatment, Monty’s Ultimate Spelt Body Therapy, £150 is well worth a try. The treatment begins with half an hour to enjoy in the hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, laconium (like a sauna but not as hot) and experience showers. Once fully relaxed you’re led into the wet treatment room (there are two other treatment rooms) for an hour and a half of body brushing, exfoliation, deep tissue massage and body moisturising, all finished off with a facial massage. It’s quite the package and guaranteed to leave you feeling super-relaxed, glowing and wishing for more.

Once you’ve finished your treatment you can relax in the Spa’s café and sample their healthy, balanced menu. However we recommend slipping upstairs to the hotel’s luxurious sitting room and relaxing with a much-deserved afternoon tea.
