For a spa with added wow factor visit Thermae Bath Spa, the only spa in Britain to offer bathing in naturally-warm spring water. Housed within a historic building it boasts striking architecture including a stunning open air, roof-top pool with breathtaking views of the city of Bath.

Thermae’s extensive facilities include steam rooms infused with essential oils, great relaxation rooms and the Minerva pool which is intrinsic to its must-have Watsu treatment £65. (The Minerva pool is separate to the open air, public pool and is private for one-to-one treatments). During Watsu, floats are attached to the body to create a feeling of weightlessness in the pool. Your therapist then performs different types of massage including acupressure and gentle stretching to put you into a deep state of relaxation. This is a must-try treatment: nothing relaxes like Watsu.

Also worth trying is the Pevonia Deluxe Pedicure(£45). Like no other pedicure, this takes place on a special pedicure throne which incorporates hyrdo-jets and aquapressure. The treatment includes exfoliation and massage, nail and cuticle treatment, followed by a luxurious foot mask.

Thermae spa is open to the public for swimming so it has a livelier ambience than other spas. But the treatment rooms and relaxation areas are perfectly private making this a great choice for a girls weekend, where you can gossip to your hearts content – guilt free!
