The Chelsea Day Spa is bright, airy and decorated with quirky wallpaper and ornate furniture which makes it stand out from the crowd - and feel a bit less clinical than other treatment rooms I have been to. On entering the spa the receptionist took my coat and offered me a drink, forgetting to be virtuous, I chose a mulled wine to go with my festive manicure.
The Signature Festive Figgy Pudding Manicure, £40 for one hour, which was really thorough, included the usual removal of cuticles, file and paint. But what made this treatment special were the scrub, balm and moisturiser blended by Faye Fasan, the spa owner and smelling of Christmas – all spicy cinnamon and rum. Faye offers different signature blends depending on the time of year, so once Christmas is over the theme will move to something more appropriate. After my hands were exfoliated, the balm was applied and my hands were packed into heated mittens – bliss! The manicure was of the highest quality and a good way to rest weary arms after all that shopping on the King’s Road.
