The award-winning Ragdale Hall is as grand as its name suggests - you will need a map to find your way around the endless corridors. The Hotel and Spa is well-equipped with endless treatment rooms and comfy armchairs and daybeds dotted around for you to relax on in your towelling robes.
For the more active spa-goer, there is a gym with one of the best views you’ll find while working-out indoors - endless views of bright yellow fields as far as the eye can see; a definite distraction from the treadmill. There is also a timetable of exercise classes available everyday and includes everything from pilates to dance.
If it’s relaxation you’re after, the thermal spa comes complete with every type of sauna and steam room you can imagine, some scented and all at varying temperatures to suit you – you can easily while away a good couple of hours exploring the different rooms and experiences. The swimming pool is large and almost always quiet, while the loungers are comfy enough to enjoy a well-earned nap. The food is plentiful and there are good choices of healthy and indulgent options, while the bedrooms, if you decide to stay (we would definitely advise it), are modern and comfortable.
We tested Decleor's Aromatic Body Massage, from £72, which was super relaxing at almost two hours long and involved a deep-tissue back massage which will ensure even the most stressed-out reach a state of relaxation. This was followed by an indulgent facial tailored to your skin’s needs. Highly recommended.
Ragdale Hall is somewhere to get away from it all and really relax. It is encouraged that people are quiet in the communal areas apart from the dining hall so this isn’t ideal for a hen weekend; instead it is perfectly suited to a visit with your mum.
