Now, I have not been shy when it comes to professing my admiration for the scrunchie. It has character, it's comfy and it's got that kinda uncool, cool thing going on. Sadly most other people just think it's uncool. However designer Ashish championed them this season at his show; the gold ones were particularly fetching. So when Sophie found a gold scrunchie under her desk today I was in there like a shot to trial that trend.

First off, it's not easy being a scrunchie (everyone hates you) or wearing a scrunchie (everyone looks at you kinda funny). So going into ELLE's weekly conference this morning with the whole office (editor and all) was a definite trial. Lorraine Candy just looked at my scrunchie-adorned dolly bun and muttered 'Scrunchie. That's just not right is it?' To which I responded 'It's for a Trial A Trend!' and hid my head behind my notebook. Stacey Duguid just exclaimed, sort of in slow motion, 'noooo, not a scrunchie....' while another colleague Hannah Swerling came to my defense and said 'It's fun!'.

And it really is fun. My hair has personality, it sort of bobs about as I walk. And my, is it comfy. What's slightly annoying is that it's a real conversation starter - in the loos, by the water cooler, in the lift. If you want a quiet day, don't adorn your hair with a gold scrunchie.

Also, I haven't, actually, been, outside. I may be the scrunchie's biggest fan but I think it's more suited for poolside accessorising, rather than for the office (or surrounding area) because while it's fun, it's definitely not chic.

See what happened when we put the Stella McCartney teal eyeliner on trial...

UPDATE: The scrunchie has to go. Beauty boss has just said, 'I can't take you seriously with that thing on your head'...
