catwalk A/W 2010
review
21 February 2010
Hooray! Ann-Sofie's back! After sitting out last season (she was busy moving back to Stockholm and becoming head designer at Cheap Monday) the Swedish designer returned with a collection inspired by Second Life and an avatar based on herself 'but improved by buying the wak of Angelina Jolie'.
The show notes had us giggling before the clothes even hit the catwalk (sample: 'To make money her character has become a stripper but despite all the improvements bought she is often thrown out of strip joints for being too ugly') and the heavy metal soundtrack started to make our ears bleed. Chiffon and suede were the order of the day, combining floaty, etheral shapes and wing-like cut-outs with tough jackets and buckled skirts, and fierce sunglasses and silver jewellery came courtesy of Sheefun and Helene Carlson.
The sheer ruffled trousers and full length dresses may only be snapped up by the very brave but there were plenty of cool, wearable pieces for the rest of us to choose from. distressed cropped denim jackets with patches and hanging threads, printed vests and ruffled T-shirts, chic chiffon blouses and mohair jumpers would slip neatly into our wardrobes, and translate effortlessly into a capsule collection should Topshop come calling again. Welcome back Ann-Sofie - we missed you.
