catwalk A/W 2010
review
1 March 2010
Missoni's nomadic Spring Summer girl has turned warrior for Autumn Winter. Chunky knits swathe the body in asymmetric shapes held together with giant silver safety pins. Ponchos masquerade as dresses, huge shawls as coats in a collection that you wanted to wrap yourself up in on such a cold and wet Milan day.
Carpet coats had double hoods - a feature we have seen many times this season - ribbed leggings, knitted shorts and cropped jumpers were layered upon layer, while bra tops and camisoles peaked out from underneath.
Members of the Missoni clan jumped up from their seats to join Angela's finale bow. This season, in typically Italian style, it is still about the family support system. The atelier team at Dolce & Gabbana, three generations at Missoni, all hanging in there after a few financially tough seasons.
