The trend for barely-there dresses, spotted in New York at Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, looks set to continue in Milan if Alberta Ferretti is anything to go by.

The simplest of sheer slip dresses were panelled with geometric shapes of tropically coloured satin, offering up brief glimpses of just-covered skin. And lightweight, crochet knits shifts offered little to the imagination either.

For those of a less daring persuasion there was plenty to choose from; wrapped and twisted silk dresses in block colours and a rainforest-inspired leaf print, a crocheted pencil skirt and khaki safari shirt and a clutch of rainbow coloured knitted vests and dresses with pinafore backs. But aside from one pair of flowing palazzo pants and a white, loose fitting jumpsuit fretworked with sequins, trousers were as barely there as the dresses - the Ferretti girl is going to be baring her legs in typically feminine style next summer.
