Picking up where they left off last season, designer couple Max and Lubov Azria, stepped into spring 2010 with flattering draped and asymmetric silhouettes in popping, cheery hues.

Fluttery silks and easy jersey dresses were deceptively complex, combining experimental cuts and paneling with multi-coloured prints and bold black incisions - all effortlessly working a wearable day-to-night angle which no doubt appealed to the stellar front row that included Solange Knowles, Leigh Lezark and Alexandra and Theodora Richards. This wouldn't have been a Max Azria show without a few Herve Leger inspired body-con dresses (Azria's is now also at the helm of Herve Leger); edgy mini-dresses wrapped around the body with sheer panels that highlighted the hourglass form, some with dramatic floor-length swathes of fabric trailing at the back. Fun, yet surprisingly pragmatic, this collection nailed what the BCBG Max Azria girl has always been about.
