It's a season whose best collections have been designed by women.

Londoner Hannah MacGibbon confirmed this theory with her spring/summer 2010 show for Chloe. Following in the footsteps of the house's former alumni, Stella McCartney and Phobe Philo, earlier in the week, she sent out sportswear-influenced clothes with a joyfully free spirit. An opening section of boyish tailoring moved into utility chic with army jackets and buttoned-up khaki shirts, before a gorgeous finale of gauzy chiffon dresses in soft shades of oatmeal. There were long skirts, stirrup pants and pocketless jeans, all teamed with chunky flat sandals and a new leather satchel, worn casually across the body. In short, it was fresh and focused. And also desirable, of course.
