A cinematic backdrop complete with dry ice and the sound of high heels clicking slowly on a concrete floor set the scene for Dior’s spring/summer 2010 show.

1940's film noir was designer John Galliano’s theme and his heroine was a smouldering femme fatale, hair set in Hollywood waves and lips shaped in red. She stalked onto the catwalk in a short silver lame trenchcoat, and from there on, the glamour turned right up to max. Lace-trimmed silk knickers, semi-sheer camisoles, filmy little negligees…it was essentially a collection based on lingerie, turned into soft and seductive dresses or playsuits, then a jaw-droppingly good-looking finale of chiffon evening dresses, embellished with lace or sequins. Galliano kept things light and airy rather than x-rated, however.
