For the second season, Frida Giannini has said goodbye to the folksy and disco girls that Gucci was known for and instead embraced a clean, modern look.

Last season was good, but this season Giannini has really got in to her stride - just when fashion's mood calls for such simplicity.

Cream, beige and powder blue dresses were form-fitting and fuss-free save for a flash of skin through cut-out side panels. Dresses draped close to the body and showed off bare backs.

I'm not sure we're ready for the return of skirts over trousers, as we saw here, but the super-slim fit bootleg shapes worn without skirts caused quite a response from the audience. Gucci practically owns the patent for this trouser shape having produced it so successfully since Tom Ford's early days at the helm. Now, its trademark is back and looking as fresh and relevant as ever. Time to bin the skinnies.
