You can always rely on Milan to deliver some serious glamour, and Frida Giannini always manages to deliver it at the perfect level.. Her spring collection is entitled ‘Hard Deco’, a blend of 1920s elegance and the strong, womanly style that the Gucci girl embodies. Translation? Even the daywear oozes sophisticated sex appeal.

The colour spectrum was simple - black, white, green and gold - but seriously high impact. Ultra flattering, pleated, high-waisted black trousers with gold buttons at the ankles were teamed with printed silk scarf bombers with just the right amount of cool and slick, beautifully cut blazers and dinner jackets. Dresses had the twenties-influenced low slung, boyish fit but with pleated chiffon skirts, luxe T-shirt style cuts in block colours and gold waistbands, they were undeniably feminine.

And then the lights went down and the glitz quota went up; a series of modern flapper dresses hit the runway, all dropped waists, plunging necklines and backs, covered with shimmering patterns of black and gold sequins. Welcome to Milan.
