Never one to rest on its laurels, J.Crew continued to up the ante for autumn winter 2012. Luxurious materials and an overall relaxed sense of ease worked its way effortlessly into designer Jenna Lyons’s trademark eclectic styling.

J.Crew is all about dressing in the right mix: an everyday sweatshirt paired with leopard jacquard trousers, a t-shirt adorned in a sequined chevron pattern or a cosy cable-knit sweater beautifully embellished with sparkling bugle beads. A mustard pea coat paired with a sequined shirt was an attractive statement, as was the rich looking Bordeaux motorcycle jacket that nicely juxtaposed simple khaki trousers with a tiny sequined bow print.

Overall, the collection translated into a much more luxe take on J.Crew’s All-American aesthetic; it was like stepping into the pages of a glossy magazine. Rounding off the stellar line-up were some equally appealing accessories; among the stand-outs were ladylike bags in exotic skins and a shearling envelope clutch that will no doubt be a big hit.
