Inspired by 1990s Versace and a baroque exhibition, in pastel pink, blue, lilac and yellow, Louise Goldin’s spring/summer 2010 collection was an accomplished blend of colour, cut and texture – last season’s warrior woman has had a decidedly feminine make-over.

Seriously covetable summer mini-dresses were crafted in fan-like pleats and draped folds that hung about the body alongside silk bloomers, sheer cropped tops and gold glitter prints, as well as moulded, corset-meets-armour pieces that gave the romantic vibe a modern high-tech edge. Jean Paul Gaultier for Madonna style cone-shaped bras hardened the softest edges of the looks, and while in anybody else’s hands the sherbet shades and abundant ruffles could have been too sweet, Goldin effortlessly nailed the perfect pretty- edgy balance. Her best show yet and one that had the fashion crowd chattering all day.
